How to Over Come F.E.A.R.

You cannot take away a feeling because it has been there for a long time and at one point protected you from something. Fear is not a bad thing when you think of it. It is where and when you feel the fear that determines whether or not it serves you. For instance, if you are near the edge of a cliff and are about to step off, fear is a good thing because you will automatically pull yourself back from harm.

The fear we are addressing in this article is one that stops you from being productive.

I am working with a man on his web site. He has to write one paragraph about himself that tells his reader what makes him better or different than his competitors. It is now 2 weeks and he has not been able to write a word!

Yesterday, when I asked him what is stopping him, he said that he is concerned what others would think and whether what he wrote would be good enough.

My response: There is no judgment here, the judgment comes from yourself and your fear keeps on getting stronger because you keep on putting off what you really want to do.

And that is true of putting off your homework, assignments, science fair projects.

Here is a simple assignment. Write down....

1. 4 new actions you know are important for you to do.
   
2. What the pain is that you associate with them that has kept you from taking these actions.
   
3. All the pleasure you've gotten from not following through on these four actions.
   
4. What it will cosst you if you don't follow through on these actions.
   
5. All the benefits you will gain by taking actions in each of these areas.

It is much different than what you are familiar with because it focuses on outcomes.
