The first step in leaning how to design a poster middle school students can use for their astronomy science fair projects is to identify the various elements that you will need to add to your poster. You will need both text and illustrations. You can use your project's science report to figure out what elements your poster will need.

The second step is to craft the text entries for your poster. The text sections that you will need to include are: (1) your hypothesis, (2) information about your experiment's design, (3) the data that you collected, (4) your analysis and (5) your conclusions. These sections will need to be a truncated version of the information from your formal report. If you need help understanding how to write your report or the text information for your poster, then look in your science textbook for information on how to do an experiment.

Next you will want to review your text entries to figure out what types of illustrations you need for your poster. For astronomy projects you will either need photographs that you took through a telescope, images that you downloaded from the Internet or you can use your own drawings. Graphs and charts are also useful illustrations that you can add to your project's poster.

The final step in designing your poster is to layout all of your elements. When laying out your text make sure you use guidelines so that your text blocks are level. You will also want to make sure your lettering is uniform and legible. When you are adding your graphics use a glue stick or tape so that the graphic doesn't ripple and so that it lays flat. Finally, make sure you label all of your graphics so that the judges know what they are looking at.

Learning how to design a poster middle school students can use for their science projects is relatively easy. All you have to do is make sure your your report accurately reflect what your project was about and what you learned. Finally, make sure your poster is neat, legible and that it is interesting.
