Biology science projects that explore the structure of organisms...
Easy science experiments on the structure of organisms can usually be completed in under an hour. These experiments will simply examine different structural elements of living things including plants and animals. Whether you are interested in the most basic experiment or a more advanced experiment, biology science projects have a lot to offer you. The most basic experiment amount easy experiments on the structure of organisms is to look at the differences between living organisms. For example, you will want to learn what makes a plant a plant and what makes an animal an animal. You can explore how plants and animals are classified. Another example of easy science experiments on the structure of organisms is to compare animal cells to plant cells. To start with you will need to collect an animal cell and a plant cell. Animal cells can be harvested non-invasively by swabbing the inside of your mouth. Plant cells can be harvested from a leaf. As you examine each cell under a microscope you will want to identify the parts of each cell as you draw a picture of what you see. You can then compare the similarities and differences between plant and animal cells. If you enjoy microbiology science fair projects then another option that you have is to take a closer look at either plant cells or animals cells. For example, if you are working with plant cells you can compare the cells found in different parts of the plant like the stem, leaves and roots. You can also look at the cells that produce different colors. Finally, you can experiment to see what cellular changes occur during different times of the year. For example, what cellular changes occur as plants produce seeds or fruit.
If you are interested in animals then you can design an experiment that compares and contrasts the cellular components found in different parts of an animal. For example, you can look at cells found in hair, saliva, blood, different organs and skin of animals. Non-invasive samples can be taken to get hair and saliva cells, however, you will want to visit your local butcher's shop to collect sample cells from blood, organs and skin. You can also see how animal cells change as they are processed for food and leather products. For example, you can see how skin cells change color and shape as the skin is processed from raw meat products to leather. Plants are going to be the easiest test subjects to work with when developing this type of experiment. If you use animal cells that require working with live animals, you need to make sure read through the rules regarding using live animals as a science experiment test subject. If you work with animal cells your best bet is to use cells collected from meat products found at the supermarket, or use non-invasive cell collection methodologies like cheek swabs and cutting hair and nail samples. When you write up your report and when you create your science fair project display, make sure you explain the steps you took to collect cells ethically and humanely.
