Learn Basic Robotic Building
Bioloid, an educational robot construction kit, gives you the opportunity to learn about basic aspects of a robot when put together the 14-types of robot examples. This kit uses special modular DC servo blocks, which are designed just for robotic application.

Movements based on sensors
Included in your Bioloid kit is a sensor module that has different functions (sound detection, distance sensing, and so forth). What makes this robot different than other remote contol toys is that it has autonomous programmable robots with intelligence.

Your understanding of robotics will be expanded when you edit and work with the examples in the kit. Example:

The Crossing Gate has one degree of freedom.
The Automobile has 4 degress of freedom as does the walking robot.

The robot exclusive modules are network driven and easy to mount as joints and sensors.

The Bioloid Beginner Program Kit gives you the freedom to mix and match the identical injection molded building blocks.

Look at the CM-5 Module image below, on the left. Here you can see 3-connected servos. The CM-5 module is an Atmel ATMega128 based mcu module and houses both the robot's rechargeable battery pack (9.6V) and controller. The controller board uses serial connection to communicate with each of the servos.

There are two software utilities that come with the Biolod kit.

1. The Motion Control Editor, a GUI, allows you to create unique motion sequences through the CAD torque and rendering measuring tool. Motions are built frame by frame similar to a animation storyboard.

2. The Behavior Control Program is a GUI modular that gives you the ability to program sequences of events (motions) with interchangeable blocks.

When you use Motion Editor with the Behavior Control Program you will be able to use the Motion Editor to generate the robots motion sequences and then use the Behavior Control Program to implement the logic / intelligence of the robot.

The Bioloid Software that included in both the Beginner and Comprehensive Kit has the same information. You receive all the part to assemble a robot. Read through the materials before you assemble your robot.
