Botany science fair experiments shine light on the world of plants...
Botany science fair experiments are popular with schools because they are easy to set up and the supplies are relatively inexpensive. After all a packet of seeds costs between $1 and $2 and you get ten to twenty seeds per packet. The only other items that you need for your science fair projects artificial vs. sunlight experiments is a lamp, light bulbs, a paper cup, soil and water.
The first science fair projects artificial vs. sunlight experiments that you can conduct will look at the germination process. To set up this experiment you will need four bean seeds, two paper cups, a cup of soil and a little water. Fill the paper cups with soil and plant two seeds in each cup. Water the cup and set one outside where it can get natural sunlight and set one inside away from natural light where it will only get artificial light. See which seeds sprout first. The second science fair projects artificial vs. sunlight experiment that you can conduct will compare the plant growth patterns produced by color light to those produced by sunlight. For this experiment you will need a lamp and a colored light bulb and two newly sprouted bean plants. Set one plant outside and isolate the other in a room where the only light is the color light. Observe both plants for a month and note the growth experienced by both plants. Compare your results. Other great botany science fair experiments that you can conduct is to examine if the amount of light that a plant receives impacts it growth patterns. In this experiment you will have a control plant that is set outside or exposed only to sunlight. Your test plants will be exposed to different amounts of artificial light from 12 hours a day to 24 hours a day. Make your observations and try to explain your results. If you are interested in microbiology then try these microbiology science fair projects. The first one is to see if the root system is affected by being exposed to artificial light. You will use a microscope to examine the root hairs and root structures of your test subjects. Another experiment that you can conduct is to look at the veins in the plant's leaves. See if they differ between plants only exposed to sunlight and those only exposed to artificial light. The final science fair project that you can complete is to experiment with different types of artificial light. For example, do plants respond differently to fluorescent light then they do to incandescent lights? Use plants exposed to sunlight as your control experiment. Try to explain why or did or did not find a difference. Copyright © 2003 - 2010 Super Science Fair Projects - All Rights Reserved.
