Okay, so you've spent the last three months working on your separating hydrogen and oxygen in water science fair projects and now you are in the home stretch for your science fair. One of the last steps for completing your project is to come up with a great looking display board for your chemistry science experiments. The first step in creating a winning poster for your separating hydrogen and oxygen in water science fair projects is to figure out what information your poster needs to contain. Since this is a fairly complex science fair project you may need more than one poster board to hold all of the required information. Generally you will need one text block for each stage of the scientific method that you completed.

The second step in creating a winning poster for your separating hydrogen and oxygen in water science fair projects is to develop your charts and diagrams. For these types of chemistry science fair projects you will need several charts and diagrams that walk people through the process of separating hydrogen and oxygen out of water. While you can't pasted published diagrams on your poster board, you can use these diagrams as a guide for creating your own. Remember to label your diagrams clearly.

The third step is to determine if photographs will be appropriate for your poster. You have a limited amount of space to work with, however, photographs of you completing each step of your experiment can be a nice touch to add to a display board. When you print out your photographs make sure that they are big enough to be seen from at least three feet away. When you add photographs to your poster board, make sure you mat them before you add them to your board. This will help them to stand out from the background.

The fourth step is to work on your lettering. If you will be adding lettering directly to your poster board then you will need to use guidelines and/or letter stencils. If you take this route, remember to erase your guidelines after your lettering is in place. Finally, if your handwriting is naturally messy, compose your text blocks and headings on a computer and then cut and paste the letters on to your posters.

The final step is to think about the layout of your award winning poster. Remember that you want your layout to flow from step one to step x in a logical order. You also don't want your visual elements crowded or spaced too far apart. The layout of your poster is going to impact how judge's view your project, so take as much time as you need to create a great looking display board.
