Hydrogen energy science fair projects are important. Since hydrogen is the anticipated end all energy source for humans, there is a current push for chemistry experiments to explore the possibilities of this element. If you are interested in alternative energy sources or if you are interested in winning great prizes, then consider turning one of these sample projects into a unique project for your school science fair.

Can hydrogen be used as fuel for a car? This hypothesis is a starting point for many advanced hydrogen energy science fair projects. Since it has already been determined that hydrogen is a viable fuel source for cars and trucks, it is up to you to take this project to the next level. Consider developing projects that look at what engine modifications will need to be made so that cars can run on hydrogen.

How can hydrogen be created for automobile fuel? This is a question that is on everyone's mind. Before hydrogen can be considered as a viable fuel source, a process has to be developed that will make liquid hydrogen easy and inexpensive to produce. This is where your chemistry science fair projects come into play. Try to come up with easy and safe ways to produce hydrogen.

Is hydrogen energy a practical option for heating a home? This is a variation on the above project ideas. Since it has been determined that hydrogen energy will work for powering automobiles, could the same energy source be used to heat a home? Would it be safe to do this? What type of furnace would need to be developed in order for this to work? What new energy businesses could be spawned if people started using hydrogen to heat their homes?

Could hydrogen energy be used to generate electricity? Again, this is another variation of the above experiment ideas. To test this hypothesis question you will need to determine how the electricity generator would look like, how the hydrogen energy would be produced and how efficient this electricity source would be. As you can see this could turn out to be a very complex project, but one that would be worth its weight in gold if done properly.

The final angle that your hydrogen energy science fair projects can take is to look at the environmental impact transitioning from fossil fuels to hydrogen energy would have. What improvements would occur? Would there be any negative consequences of using hydrogen energy? This last question can spawn many new project ideas. For example, since water is the main ingredient for hydrogen energy, how would this impact local water resources that are already heavily taxed? Could the use of water to produce hydrogen lead to a new energy crisis as well as a water shortage crisis?
