Kindergarten

Kindergarten used to be an optional grade for schools to offer. However, today it is a main component of an elementary school education.

Objectives/Goals

This project is created to see whether the starting age for kindergarten affects the student later in education.

Methods/Materials

A test is created based on the California State Standards for the core subjects from 6th to 8th grade. Both genders are tested based on their starting age for kindergarten. There is a field of 20 test subjects, ideally half male and half female, in the 8th grade with a variety of starting ages. Preferably five of each starting age; plus 5 more students for the control group.

Results

I found that the students who entered kindergarten at the age of 6 had the highest averaged score, whereas the students entering at 4 had the lowest.

Conclusions/Discussion

When students are older in an environment of younger peers they store more information than the others. This idea continues throughout middle school learning. 3rd party contributor
