Extracting DNA

Do 100 DNA Experiments at Home with the
DNA Extraction Science Fair Projects Kit

Image of affects of Chlorine on banana DNA With this complete research package you will be able to do DNA at home... laboratory quality... at least 100 science fair experiments!

Just like a forensic scientist, you will be able to extract, purify and to do numerous simple experiments. And I bet you also will come up with some original ideas of your own.

All the chemicals that are provided in this package are exactly like the ones that a professional scientist uses in his/her laboratory when extracting and experimenting with DNA.

Included in the extraction kit is...

  • Special non-toxic stain to make the DNA easy to see.

  • All the glass and plasticware you need to measure how much DNA you extract, to separate the pure DNA from its host organism, and to store DNA indefinitely for future experiments.
What you actually set up is a Home Mini-CSI DNA lab!

What is included in the DNA Science Fair Projects Kit?

  • 3-unbreakable 250 ml tri-pour beakers so you will be able to process the buffer and cellular matter while the DNA is extracted.
  • Unbreakable Graduated Test-tube--Commissioned by Dr. Shawn specially for this science project. Use it to accurately measure the quantity of DNA you extract.

  • 1-glass extraction rod so you can remove the DNA from the buffer solution. This allows you to conduct extra experiments.
  • 1-eye dropper so that you can deliver the stain to the DNA.
  • One 4-oz. plastic squeeze bottle that holds the DNA extraction agent (ordinary rubbing alcohol) and delivers it easily and safely to the DNA.
  • Reusable Ultra-fast Flow Nylon Filter--To remove cellular matter from the DNA solution quickly with no mess.
  • A proprietary blend of chemical - powdered DNA buffer - just for this DNA Extraction Science Fair Projects kit. It contains
    1. Papain enzyme that destroys proteins so that your results are not contaminated.

    2. NaCl that will lubricate the sticky DNA molecules which stops them from binding to the cellular matter or each other.

    3. NaHCO3 will control the pH during the extraction. This makes the preparation of the buffer solutions easy.

  • Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate - a special cell-blasting detergent... Lab-grade cell-busting agent down cell walls and nuclei and release the DNA. This completely safe and non-toxic chemical is exactly what professional scientists use in the lab.

  • Propietary non-toxic "Blue Monster" DNA stain is used to make DNA clearly visible so you can take a photo for your display board.
  • You will receive complete, simple, clearn hypothesis to conclusioninstructions to make your science project easy!
  • Also, you will be shown how to propose and answer your own research questions... just like a real scientist. Writing your question (your hypothesis), doing your experiment, and answering your question (writing your project report) is fun when you follow the simple directions that are included in this kit. Now you have everything you need to be a win at your science fair!
  • On top of all of the above, you will be given access to the scientist to ask questions. In your kit is the information on how to reach him.

Not Included in the DNA Extraction Science Fair Projects Kit: You will need a small amount of rubbing alcohol so that the DNA is visible in your test tube.

Rubbing alcohol is classified as hazardous material and therefore, very expensive to mail. You probably have some in your home already, otherwise it is very inexpensive and be purchased at a grocery or pharmacy.
