The first option that you have for salt water experiments science fair projects is to look at the concentration of salt in various solutions. To conduct this experiment you will need a saline solution, either from a natural source or from a man made source. In this experiment you will examine the concentration of salt in each solution.

The second option that you have for salt water experiments science fair projects is to look at how some animals have adapted to live in marine environments. In this experiment you will look at how animals regulate the amount of salt in their bodies and how they avoid dehydration and salt sickness. Since it is assumed that all animals originated in the oceans, do you think that we can call these salt systems an adaptation?

The third option that you have for earth science experiments that deal with salt water is to see what is the best chemical balance for salt water fish. This is an easy science fair experiment for Kindergarten kids.

The fourth experiment that you can conduct is to explore salt lake formations. In this experiment you will examine the earth science processes that lead to the development of salt lakes. How do these lakes differ from freshwater lakes? How are they the same? For a more advanced project try visiting a salt lake and take water samples to experiment with. Examine the life forms found in the water, as well as the salt concentrations. How do these results compare to animal life and salt concentrations found in the world's oceans?

The final project you can complete is to make your own sea salt. To make sea salt all you need is sea water, a plastic tarp and sunlight. To create your sea salt pour your sea water on the plastic tarp and allow the water to evaporate. What is left over is your sea salt. Examine the sea salt for chemcial compounds. Explain how sea salt differs from normal table salt. How about doing a taste test to see if people can tell the difference between table salt and sea salt.
