The first types of projects that you can create using wind and weather for science projects are earth science science fair experiments. These projects are going to look at earth science concepts like ecology, water cycles and weather patterns. Some of the projects that you can develop include: charting the weather patterns in your area, comparing current water cycles to past water cycles and looking at how local wind and weather impacts the diversity of local ecosystems.

A High school math science project can also be designed around wind and weather for science projects. For example, you can measure wind velocities, wind force, air temperature trends or air pressure trends. You can then use these measurements to design windmills used to generate electricity or find some other practical application for the data that you collected.

Physics science fair projects can also be designed with a wind and weather focus. For example, you can examine the physical properties of severe weather like tornados, hurricanes and thunderstorms. Or you can look at how light is defused by various types of weather. To create a more advanced science fair project you can apply this information to a current problem or question that scientists are trying to answer.

In addition to looking at the properties of wind and weather, you can also experiment with how living organisms respond to different types of weather. Humans, animals and plants all have unique responses to weather, so you have a lot of test subjects to choose from. For example, you can look at the physical and chemical responses plants have to sunny weather and compare that to how they react to thunder storms, rain storms or severe weather systems.

It is easy to find a topic in regards to wind and weather for science projects because of all the information on the Internet. However, if you want to win with your project you need to make sure you select a topic that is interesting, unique and that has some value to it. To help determine if you have a good topic ask yourself the following questions:

  • Has any one else experimented with my topic?
  • Does my topic have modern applications?
  • Can my topic help solve a current problem scientists are working on?
