Easy biochemistry science fair projects can be just what you need to get students interested in science and science fairs. These projects are simple, they're cheap and they can be done any time of the year. To get started, learn more about what types of biochemistry science experiments your class can complete.

The first type of easy biochemistry science fair projects that your classroom can do involves soil experiments. Soil can be collected from home, playgrounds and on the street. Easy experiments on soil include: examining the composition of the soil, analyzing what microorganisms are found in soil and comparing the biochemistry of various soil samples.

Another type of easy biochemistry science fair projects that your classroom can do involves seed germination. Seed germination experiments are very popular with younger kids, because they enjoy watching the seed sprout roots, a stem and leaves. Older students can add on to the traditional seed germination experiment by playing around with the growing medium, by varying the amount of light the seed gets and by introducing various toxins and nutrients to the germinating seed.

Light science can also be applied to biochemistry science experiments. For example, you can see how changing the intensity of the light impacts how fast a plant will grow, you can see if changing the color of the light impacts the health and vitality of the plant or you can see if exposing a plant to 24 hours of light a day impacts the health and longevity of the plant. For example, some of the largest vegetables on record come from Alaska because their summer has nearly 24 hours of sunlight.

The final biochemistry science topic that you can experiment with is compost. Compost experiments will take more time than other biochemistry experiments, but they can be great for class projects. Composting experiments can compare the rate of decomposition of various types of compost, they can examine how organic compost compares to regular compost and you can examine the heat and gasses produced by composting.

Easy biochemistry science fair projects are great for both classroom projects. When looking for biochemistry science fair projects take into consideration how much time they will require to be completed, as well as how much space will be needed to execute the project.
