Materials Needed

  • A previous month's utility bill.

  • The utility bill from for the month that you are doing your experiment.

  • A good memory to unplug the plug from the socket when a kitchen appliance is not in use.

  • Everyone in your household commitment to unplugging the the plugs from the sockets when appliances are not in use.
  • Procedure

    • Have a family meeting and explain that you need everyone's cooperation in removing the plugs from the sockets when they are done using an appliance for one month. Do not include children under 10 yrs old.
    • Make small signs and tape them next to each wall socket that says, "Unplug from Wall". Use bright colors.
    • Every week change the signs. They can say the same thing and use a different color ink, or you can make a picture of a plug being unplugged from the wall. Below are 4-images you can copy and paste into Word and then print.
