Every year teachers try to find a new collection of environment classroom project ideas to jazz up their lesson plans. However, many teachers limit their options to lectures, demonstrations and science experiments. While these projects are great, they are not your only options.

Environment classroom project ideas for classroom activities will generally need to focus on the science concepts that you are working with. If you are working on ecosystems then you may want to start your lesson plan with a video on a specific ecosystem you want your class to study. Then discuss the different components of an ecosystem. Next have your students observe the ecosystems both inside and outside of the classroom. Finally have your students present their observations to the classroom and discuss their findings. Some of the classroom activities that you can work with include:

  • Examine school ground ecosystems;

  • Set up a school recycling project;

  • Experiment with a school compost project

  • Make a PicoTurbine Windmill for renewable energy education in tn the classroom.

    Teachers are constantly ordering the following kits for their classroom.

    The next classroom project that you can use to enrich your curriculum is a research project. Research projects can be assigned as either an individual project or they can be assigned as a group project. One way to ensure that the students are focusing their research on the right topics is to assign the topics. You can either assign topics to each student or team directly, or you can create a list of topics, cut the topics apart and place them in a bag or bowl. Then have the students draw their topic from the bag or bowl. The complexity of the research project needs to commensurate with the age of your students. However, allow them room to use their creativity by encouraging or requiring illustrations or multi-media components.

    Another class project that you can introduce to your students is a classroom writing project. This type of project can be set up as a current event science journal assignment that spans the entire school year, or it can be a single writing project. This project is not only great for analyzing your students' understanding of science projects, but it is also a great way to help them develop their critical writing skills.

    When planning any classroom project it is important that you set up their research environment so that it is conducive to easy learning. This means that they have easy access to project resources, that there is a limited amount of outside distraction and that they have the freedom to work in teams or by themselves. It is also important that you provide a structure for the completion of their project. For example, you can break down the progress of the project by week. For example, week 1 can be used for research, week 2 for analyzing the date, week 3 for formatting the report and week 4 for presenting their projects.

    Environment classroom project ideas can come from just about any where. The key to producing an excellent curriculum is to be creative with your science experiments.
