A biome is one of the six main types of ecosystems found on the planet Earth. Biomes include freshwater, marine, desert, forest, tundra and grasslands. If you are interested in environmental science experiments then try one of these science fair projects biomes - habitat ecology experiments.

The first science fair projects biomes - habitat ecology experiments that you can complete will examine freshwater biomes. The issues that you will want to examine with this type of project include: water pollution, trash and acid rain.

The second science fair projects biomes - habitat ecology experiments that you can complete will look at marine biomes. Marine biomes are the salt water ecosystems found around the globe. Some of the issues that you can explore in these environmental experiments science fair projects include a decline in species diversity, rising ocean temperatures, pollution, mercury levels and teh decalcification of coral reefs.

If you are looking for over the top science fair projects then consider looking at desert biomes. These biomes face extreme conditions including extreme heat, extreme cold and extreme moisture levels. When examining the health of desert biomes look at how deserts are spreading and migrating around the globe. Try to relate this to both manmade causes and natural causes.

The fourth option that you have is to explore forest biomes. If you live in the United States, then this is going to be one of the easiest biomes to study. Some of the ecological problems that forest biomes are facing include forest fires, human encroachment, deforestation and feral animal introductions. When developing your projects, remember to browse through news headlines to see what the latest issues your community is facing in regards to ecology and your local forest biome.

Another option that you have is to design a research project around tundras. Tundras are found in the extreme north and south districts of the globe. Tundra experiments can be very interesting because these biomes are being radically changed by global warming. For example, ice sheets in the north are melting faster each year forcing many polar marine mammals to make adjustments to their hunting habits. You can also look at how cold water fish species are migrating further north because their normal territories are heating up.
