image of PicoTurbine Windmill Kit The PicoTurbine Windmill, once put together, acts as a wind generator. 1st prize winning awards have been won with this kit at science fairs because it looks homemade (the judges favor this). And on top of that it is inexpensive.

Science fair projects on wind generators are hot right now. These environmental science experiments look at how energy can be created by harnessing the power of the wind, a free, renewable energy source. If you are interested in helping scientists to solve the current energy problems, then try expanding on the following experiments.

The first option that you have for science fair projects on wind generators is to experiment with the size of the wind generator. Your job will be to determine if the size of the wind generator affects the amount of energy that it is able to produce. Also try to find a formula that relates the size of the generator with the amount of energy that it could potentially create.

The second option that you have for science fair projects on wind generators is to experiment with blade design. For these environmental experiments science fair projects you will want to manipulate both the size and shape of the blade, however, not necessarily at the same time. Basic blade experiments will manipulate only one thing at a time. For example, you can experiment with different sized blades first.

The third option that you have for free 9th grade science fair projects that work with wind generators is to experiment with the overall design of a wind generator. In this experiment you will build your own wind generator. The purpose of this experiment is to learn the different components of a wind generator and to learn how they work. Once you have an understanding of how wind generators operate, you will be in a better position to design your own experiments.

The fourth option that you have is to experiment with multi-energy source wind mills. In this experiment you will see if you can increase the amount of energy produced by a wind mill by supplementing its wind driven turbine with a solar energy panel. How did the addition of the solar panel affect the amount of energy that was produced by the generator, if a difference was recognized. Explain your results and discuss the possible applications of this new discover.

The final option that you have is to experiment with your local wind source. The purpose of this experiment is to see if you can evaluate your local wind source to set up a wind mill to capture the most wind energy possible. Your job will be to locate the best place to locate your wind generator, as well as to identify the best direction to point your wind generator in. What did you learn about the potential for generating wind based energy in your community?
