Environmental science experiments that look at water purification...
Solar energy can it clean water for a science fair projects? The answer is yes. In this article you will be exploring how you can use solar energy to complete environmental science experiments to purify water. This article will also examine ways you can advance this project and make it your own. In order to answer the question "solar energy can it clean water for a science fair projects?" you first need to gather together the required materials. You will need murky pond water, a glass jug, copper tubing, rubber bands, a collection container and a microscope. Now you will want to set up your experiment. To start with examine a sample of the pond water under a microscope and identify any organisms that are swimming around in it. Write down your observations in your notebook. Next set up your experiment. You will pour about three cups of pond water into your glass jug, push a piece of copper tubing through the jugs lid and secure it with tape and rubber bands, and then push the other end of the tubing through the lid on your collection container. Leave your experiment out in the sun until all of the water in your jug has evaporated and transferred to your collection container. Next you will examine the water found in the collection container to determine if the question, "solar energy, can it clean water for a science fair projects?" can be answered with a yes or no. The answer produced by environmental experiments science fair projects like this one will be yes, if the water in the collection container is free of contaminants like organisms and parasites. If the water is still contaminated then the answer will be no. Now that you know how to complete kids science fair projects that look at solar energy's power to purify water, you are ready to take this project to the next level. To start with you can examine more than just organisms in the water that you are trying to purify. You can also look at removing chemical contaminants like salt. Another way that you can make this experiment your own is to alter the experiment's setup to make it more efficient. For example, you may want to add a filter to the collection container made from newspaper in order to strain out any living contaminants that may have made its way into the collection container. You may also want to evaluate the effectiveness of the experiments design. For example, you may want to add a solar powered heater to speed up the process. Be creative and try to dazzle the judges with your innovativeness.
