Faraday's Law of Induction dates back to the 1830s. It is a basic law of electromagnetism that relates to the operating principles of transformers, inductors, and various types of electrical motors and generators. Faraday's law is applicable to a closed circuit made of thin wire and states that:

With the PicoTurbine Windmill Kit V2 you will build a fully functioning, electricity-producing scale model of a Savonius wind turbine. It stands 8" tall and produces between 2.0-3.0 volts which is enough to light up a bicolor LED (included). The LED flashes red and green to show the alternating current produced. The kit can be easily built in less than one hour. With some adult supervision the kit can be built by children as young as 10 years old, BUT for this particular kit we are recommending it for 8th grade thru college. The Rectification kit and Windmill kit come packaged together. The kit includes all parts that you will need: 4 light emitting diode (LED) with 2 leads 2 electrolytic capacitors 1 piezo buzzer A solderless breadboard and 8 jumper wires Instructions booklet includes teacher's guide and technical notes. The guide shows you how to build 4 different circuits and test them. Circuits explained include: A simple half-wave rectifier, A half-wave rectifier with smoothing capacitors, A full wave "bridge" rectifier with and without smoothing, and A voltage doubling rectifier. Many adults who are considering home power systems will profit from the lessons taught by these simple experiments. Each experiment takes from 10 to 15 minutes to perform, a perfect length of time for classroom use.

3 packages of 4 Coils each All the coils are the same dimensions (measure approximately 2" x 1" by 1/4" thick) and reistance of approximately 8 ohms. The coils come preassembled which will save your hours of work. 1 package of coils consists of approximately 50 turns of enamel coated magnet wire. It weighs 7 grams. 1 package of coils consists of approximately 100 turns of enamel coated magnet wire. It weighs 14 grams. 1 package of coils consists of approximately 200 turns of enamel coated magnet wire. It weighs 28 grams (about 1 ounce).
