HOMESCHOOL BIOLOGY FEATURED PRODUCT

Image of contents of DNA Extraction Kit

DNA Extraction Kit easily separates DNA and analyzes its strands and makes biology homeschooling fun. The special cell-blasting detergent... lab-quality... cell-busting non-toxic agent breaks down cell walls and nuclei to release the DNA plus the colored dyes aid in the DNA isolation.

The instructions booklet guides students through all the steps of extraction and sample loading. A propietary non-toxic "Blue Monster" DNA stain is used to make DNA clearly visible so you can see each DNA component. With this DNA extraction kit will be able to do many fascinating and informative experiments.

Biology is a fascinating scientific field that has been booming in the past several decades as scientists unlock some of the most perplexing mysteries about life itself. While the scientific community is poised to make breakthroughs in biotechnology and even artificial life forms, you can use excellent biology supplies for home schooling projects in order to learn more about principles behind living organisms.

  • Biology science fair projects can include creating a model of the DNA molecule - the carrier of genetic material for every single living organism. The DNA molecule is truly beautiful and amazingly complex: it has a double helix structure and stores all genetic information using four basic building blocks or bases - adenine, guanine, cytosine, and thymine (A, T, C, and G). A always goes together with T and C always goes together with G, but the variety of possible arrangements is nearly inexhaustible.
  • Biology supples for home schooling projects involving the creation of a model of a DNA molecule might involve metal wire, colored plastic, string, or anything else that can be made into a double helix shape. Elementary projects of this sort might involve making a paper model of the DNA molecule - a two-dimensional view of the double helix with different colors of paper to represent each base. High school projects might aim at making a three-dimensional model instead.
  • Image of Boys studying the Tickle Me Plant reflexesTickle Me Plant is perfect for Elementary homeschooling biology projects because there are so many experiments you can do with it and it is very inexpensive.

Some other ideas include making a cell model to illustrate the various kinds of organelles, tissues, and functions within a plant or animal cell. You can make your model using paper or cardboard; you can even use materials like clay or Silly Putty to create realistic models of certain organelles.

To label individual parts of cells, just create flags using paper and toothpicks. The paper will have the cell part's name on it, while the toothpick could be inserted into the appropriate location on the model.
  • The Internet is a place for biology supplies for home schooling projects. It's also a great way to save money on some supplies. To learn about animal anatomy, for instance, students no longer have to dissect an actual animal. Instead, they can have a clean, free, informative virtual dissection experience that will teach them as much or more about anatomy in less time. Students interested in this option can then gather their findings about anatomy into a written report and visual presentation that details the workings of a particular organ, organ system, or organism.
  • Biology supplies for home schooling projects can be found by creatively using even the most commonplace materials. Take a look at some cell science projects.
