Blood type science fair projects are a great way to learn more about the chemical and genetic makeup of your own blood. These projects can be simple one day easy free science fair projects, or they can be more complex medicine-health science experiments that explore the genetics carried in blood. Below are five topics that you can use to create your own science fair project ideas.

The simplest of all blood type science fair projects is to type your blood. The most common blood types are A, B, AB and O. You can test your blood type using science fair kits. These kits will include instructions, a color scale and a blood typing kit.

While blood type science fair projects typically just look at the most common blood types, there are several blood types that are rare that you can also explore with these types of medicine-health science fair projects. For example you can look at rH factors and rare blood type disorders.

Another option that you have for blood type experiments is to look at the distribution of blood types in the United States. The simplest experiment in this category will look just at the basic A, B, AB or O blood type distribution. A more advanced project would also look at the distribution of rH factors and blood types. For an even more advanced blood type experiment try looking at how blood type distribution varies by country, region or state. What does this tell you about heredity and blood types?

The fourth example project that you can complete is to determine if blood type affects the type of personality that you have. For this experiment you will need a large group of volunteers. You will need to give them a personality test and a blood type test. Then compare your results and see if there are connections between personality traits and blood types.

The final medicine-health science experiments that you can complete will look at blood disorders. In this experiment try to find a connection between blood types and specific blood disorders. Can you find a blood disorder that is more prevalent for type A blood groups, type B blood groups, type AB blood groups or type O blood groups? Is there one blood group that seems more resilient to blood disorders than others?
