Science fair projects with hair are popular and many people use hair as a test subject. In order to win your science fair, you need to make your hair project stand out from the others. One way to do this is to take a unique look at hair. For example, you can investigate alternative uses of hair like using the hair that your dog naturally sheds to create yarn for warm and soft clothing. The science portion of this project would be examining the physical characteristics of dog hair to see why it is a good fiber to work with.

Another way to make an impression with your science fair projects with hair is infuse your project with a "WOW" factor. The "WOW" factor is a quality association with your project that makes the judges say "WOW!" For example, medicine-health science fair projects with hair can look at the amount of hair that is shed by dogs in the U.S. each year. This data can then be used to determine how many yards of dog hair yarn can be produced from shed hair, how many sweaters or blankets could be produced with that hair and how much money could be earned by selling those products.

If you really want to impress the judges then you need to link your results and project topic with a current issue that the world is trying to deal with. For example, since dog hair comes in all sorts of natural shades including red, black, brown and white, the dog hair yarn doesn't need to be died artificially. Add value to your hair project by explaining how the lack of die will help to cut down on water and air pollution, as well as how it will reduce the amount of energy needed to produce clothing and textiles using naturally shed dog hair. Finally, explain how greenhouse gas emissions produced can be reduced by taking advantage of natural fiber yarn textile manufacturing.

In order to really reach your judges with your medicine health science experiments you need to create visual tools. These visual tools can be two dimensional presentations, or they can be interactive visual aids. Since hair science experiments usually deal with the texture of hair, you can have a hair display that judges can touch and feel. For example, if you are working with a dog hair science project, then you can provide a sample dog hair textile as well as cashmere textile sample and a synthetic textile sample for the judges to touch and feel. This wil help them to understand and experience the results that you generated with your experiment.

Overall judges want to see a hair science fair project that is unique, interesting and that deals with more than just getting hair shiny. While complex science fair projects with hair will generally be easier to wow judges with, easy and cool science fair projects with hair can also surprise and delight judges. The key is to explore an angle that somehow is related to an important issue facing humanity. Do this and your project will advance much farther than if you fail to do this.
