Try toothpick projects to create display items for your biology science fair project...
The first step in learning how to make a 3-D model of a plant cell is to learn about the various parts of a plant cell. The main components of a plant cell include: cytoplasm, golgi bodies, chloroplast, cell membrane, cell wall, vacuole, nucleus, vacuole membrane and endoplasmic reticulum. Information about these plant cell components can be mined from your biology text book, from biology articles, from reference books and from the sun as energy activity sheet. The second step in learning how to make a 3-D model of a plant cell is to gather your construction materials. There are a lot of materials that you can use to create your plant cell model including activity gel, yarn, string, toothpicks, gummi candies and food coloring. As you search your classroom and your home for materials to build your model, keep a list with you of the parts you will need to create. This way you will be able to gather materials that will make it easier to assemble a complete model. Now that you have all the materials that you need for your toothpick projects, your next step is to create the basis for your cell model. I recommend using activity gel. This gel can easily be found in craft and hobby stores and it is relatively inexpensive. This gel can be used to fill in the body of your plant cell and act as the cytoplasm. Activity gel comes in a wide range of colors and can easily be molded into any shape. A quick way to mold your plant cell is to pour your activity gell into a lined cake pan. Step four is to create all of the parts of your plant model. There are nine different parts that you will need to create. They were mentioned in the first sentence of this article. After you have created these parts put them aside for when you are ready to assemble your model. The final step is to assemble your plant cell model. First you will want to line your cake pan and pour in your activity gel. Allow it to set up just a bit. Next use toothpicks to insert your plant parts into the gel. Remove the toothpicks after you have positions your parts and allow the gel to set up completely. Next you will want to cut out the shape of your plant cell and remove the cell model from the cake pan. The final step is to apply the cell membrane and cell wall to your model and label your parts. Learning how to make a 3D model of a plant cell is not difficult to do. All you need to complete microbiology science fair projects are a few references like a sun as energy activity sheet, project of biology references and a few basic construction materials.
