Energy based projects for schools are a great way to provide your students with a chance to participate in a large science project. These projects can include topics ranging from the school's current energy usage to projects that explore environmental issues related to the various types of energy sources. To get your school project rolling follow these steps.

Here are our favorite energy science fair project kits:

The first step in implementing energy based projects for schools is to figure out what topic or topics that you want your students to explore. To find a topic, or topics, you will want to conduct a little research. An easy way to get your students involved in this process is to assign your students individual research projects. They can then seelct a topic, conduct research and present a report to the classroom. The class can then vote on a topic to use for the schoolwide project.

After selecting a topic to focus on, your next step will be to design a schoolwide project. If you select renewable energy as your project's focus then you can work with your students to develop experiments to study various renewable energy applications in a classroom setting. A couple of the projects that you can try include:

  • Solar panel experiments to light up a classroom or the school; and
  • Building and experimenting with a wind turbine.
  • The second focus that your school project can have is energy resources. There are a lot of energy resources that you can experiment with including fossil fuels, renewable energies and alternative energy sources. Some of the schoolwide projects that you can implement to explore these topics include:

  • Testing the energy efficiency of various energy sources; or
  • Modifying school equipment so that they can run on alternative biofuels.
  • Environmental projects are another option that you have for your schoolwide project. These projects will need to look at how energy sources affect the environment. For example, you can look at how much pollution is caused by the fuels used by your school, and then determine how you can reduce your school's impact on the environment.

Energy based projects for schools and super energy science fair projects are both great ways to get your students involved in the field of science.
