Maglev trains student science fair projects are very interesting. They take a look at the various ways to levitate a train using the power of magnets. If this is an area of science that interests you then you have several great electronics science experiments to choose from. Here are just a few options.

EMS, or electromagnetic suspension, is the first science concept that you can experiment with. When designing < ahref="http://www.super-science-fair-projects.com/electronics/maglev-trains-student-science-fair-projects.html">maglev trains student science fair projects you will want to examine how the attraction characteristic of magnets can be used to hold a train up. Before you design your experiment make sure you come up with a hypothesis and make sure you identify both your independent and dependent variables.

EDS, or electrodynamic suspension, is the second science concept that you can experiment with. When designing maglev trains student science fair projects around this concept you will want to look at how the repulsion characteristic of magnets can be used to push a train up away from the tracks. Test this hypothesis: EDS can move trains faster than EMS technologies. How would you test this hypothesis?

Now that you understand the two principals that are used for maglev trains you are ready to move on to more advanced electric circuit science fair projects. In this experiment you will compare the energy used to move EDS trains to the amount used to move EMS trains. What is your prediction? Which method will be able to move faster and why? What are your variables for this experiment?

Speed is an important issue to test for when working with a train science fair projects. One hypothesis that you can test is that EMS trains will have a maximum speed that they will be able to obtain. Your job now is to figure out how to determine what that speed is. During the development of your experiment you will want to find factors that will slow down your train like friction, wind shears and the weight of the train. What other factors may impede the speed of your maglev train?

Friction is one of the main concerns about maglev trains. Friction not only impedes how fast a train can go, but it also produces static electricity and heat. Both of which can cause problems for the train, passengers and people occupying space near the tracks. This is your chance to develop an advanced science fair project that will really impress the judges. Create a hypothesis that will explore this concern/problem. For example, you can expand on the hypothesis questions "what causes friction on a maglev track?" Also look at how this friction can be minimized or reused as a new source of energy.
