Physics Science Fair Projects

Physics is the study of the physical characteristics of the universe. This is one of the hard science subjects. It is the perfect area of study for junior high students who are working on science fair projects.

Objectives/Goals

My objecgtive of this project was to figure out if changing either the length, the weight, or the amplitude, would affect the swing of a pendulum, and if so, which caused the greatest change.

Methods/Materials

A PVC pipe base was built in the shape of a swing structure, to take the data. We then used 1, 2, and 3 ounce weights, a stopwatch and a ruler to test our three catigories (weight, length, and amplitude).

Results

The length gave the largest difference in time. As you make the length longer, the time increases because the pendulum has a longer path to travel. Compared to amplitude and weight, which made no difference what so ever in time.

Conclusions/Discussion

My conclusion is that length has an important role in pendulum science, and that pendulums will take more time with longer lengths. 3rd party contributor
