Cryogenics is a field of study that deals with the physics of very low temperatures. Cryogenics science fair projects, therefore, experiment with objects at very low temperatures. However, as you introduce new objects to low temperatures you change the name of the cryogenics science technology and concepts that you are working with.

The first cryogenics science fair projects that you can work with deal exclusively with cryogenics, or the study of low temperatures. Physics science fair experiments that deal with cryogenics can look at how to get to super low temperatures or how properties of matter change as they approach super low temperatures.

The next cryogenics science fair projects that you can work with are called cryobiology. Cryobiology is a study of how organisms react to low temperatures. Physics science fair projects that deal primarily with hibernation. However, you can also look at how low temperatures can help slow down the death process in hypothermia patients.

The third cryogenics science fair experiments that you can do is to use the medical applications of cryogenics. Experiments that are developed with a cryonics focus include working with theories on the cryonic preservation of animals with the hopes of reviving them at a later time. The application of cryonics to 10th science fair projects is going to be difficult, but you can experiment with specific aspects of the process like what happens to skin and organ cells when exposed to low temperatures and how damage can be prevented by controlling the growth of ice crystals inside organic cells.

The final category of cryogenics that you can work with are cryoelectronics. This is a very interesting field of study that looks at how low temperatures produce superconductivity of certain elements. This focus is great if you are interested in electronics or energy. Experiments that you can conduct include comparing the amount of energy transmitted through a copper wire at room temperature during one minute and the amount of energy passed through a copper wire at super low temperatures during a single minute.

If you are having a difficult time getting started with your experiment, then try reading the latest findings about cryogenics. For example, recent science projects have been experimenting with the unique reaction water has at very low temperatures. It seems that at super low temperatures water enters a new state of matter that is partially solid and partially liquid.
