Physics experiments that shed light on ultraviolet rays topics...
There are several different types of light that you can build excellent science fair projects around. One interesting option that you have is ultraviolet light. In these physics science fair projects you will explore how ultraviolet lights affect something. After completing your project you will need to come up with ultraviolet rays demonstrations for science fair projects. Below are a few ideas that will help you out with your project's demo. What reflects ultraviolet rays? If your science fair project is about how ultraviolet rays are reflected or viewed, then consider designing ultraviolet rays demonstrations for science fair projects that demonstrate how it is done. For example, use a camera that can photograph in the UV light spectrum. Use these photographs to show how normal objects look under regular light and under UV light. How do UV rays affect plant growth? This is another common topic for physics science fair projects that deal with UV rays. To create ultraviolet rays demonstrations for science fair projects that have this focus you will want to bring plants that have been grown under regular light and UV light to the science fair. Explain how the two plants differ, and how you think the UV rays impacted the plants growth. How do UV rays affect insect behavior? This is a topic for biology/physics experiments. An interesting demonstration that you can produce for your project would be to have an aquarium with insect test subjects. In place of the normal aquarium lights you will have UV lights. As you start your demonstration talk about the type of insects you are experimenting with and what their normal behavior is. Allow the judges to observe the insects in regular light. Then turn on the UV lights and explain how their behavior changes. How do UV rays affect skin cells? This is a medicine-health topic that will generally focus on the risk factors for developing skin cancer. The demonstration for this project will need to utilize either photographs of how UV rays affect skin, or you can complete a practical demonstration using chicken skin. Remember if you use chicken skin to wear latex gloves and to clean the demonstration area with an anti-bacteria cleanser after each demonstration. During your demonstration you will expose the chicken skin to UV rays. You may want to start this demonstration when the science fair first starts and update a board every fifteen minutes with a digital photographs of the chicken skin. This will demonstrate how quickly UV rays can damage skin. How do UV rays affect concentration? This is a project topic that will be a little tricky to demonstrate live. Because of this you may need to use a video presentation of one of your experiments. You can show how a person exposed to UV light while studying or reading is affected, if they are. As the video plays you can explain your observations of the test subject such as increased fidgeting, body shifting or mindless gazing.
