Powerful Wind Turbine Experiments Kit
Product Description
PicoTurbine Windmill Kit V2 plus is a fully functioning Savonius wind turbine. It stands 8" tall and produces between 2.0-3.0 volts of AC power that can be converted into DC power using the included rectification adaptor.
There is enough to light up a bicolor LED (included). The LED flashes red and green to show the alternating current produced. The kit can be easily built in about an one hour.
This kit will teach you:
- How AC and DC power is made from the wind.
- How to convert AC to DC power
- A few different types of circuits ie. basic wave, half wave, full wave, and voltage doubling
- 4 pre-wound coils of enamel coated copper wire
- 4 ceramic grade-5 magnets
- 1 (5 1/4”) disk
- 1 bicolor light emitting diode (LED) with 2 leads
- 1 (1/2”) Phillips head (cross slot) screw
- 1 eye-hook screw
- 1 wooden dowel
- 1 piece of wood about 6” by 6” and ½” thick (for the base)
- 1 strip of double-sided tape
- 1 small piece of sandpaper for stripping the copper wire

The Rectification kit comes with step by step instructions. It performs Rectification to DC or recifies a component of an electric circuit used to change alternating current (AC) to direct current (DC), which is needed for electronic devices.
You will learn how to convert electricity from AC to DC using the following circuit possibilities: half wave rectifier, smoothing capacitors, full wave rectifiers, and voltage doubler rectifier. The kit uses a safe solderless breadboard allowing for penalty free mistakes and countless customizable circuits.
No soldering is required, because the kit includes a solderless breadboard and jumper wires. Just follow the simple instructions to connect together the parts and perform the experiments!
The kit includes all parts that you will need:
4 light emitting diode (LED) with 2 leads
2 electrolytic capacitors
1 piezo buzzer
A solderless breadboard and 8 jumper wires
Instructions booklet includes teacher's guide and technical notes. The guide shows you how to build 4 different circuits and test them.
Circuits explained include:
A simple half-wave rectifier,
A half-wave rectifier with smoothing capacitors,
A full wave "bridge" rectifier with and without smoothing, and
A voltage doubling rectifier.
This kit contains powerful magnets. People with pacemakers must not handle or go near strong magnets.
