A Little Fact: A Swiss scientist, Horace de Saussure, built the first thermal solar collector in 1767, which was later used to heat water and cook food.


Experiment and find out the power of solar wind energy!


PicoTurbine Windmill Kit V2 is a fully functioning Savonius wind turbine. It stands 8" tall and produces between 2.0-3.0 volts which is enough to light up a bicolor LED (included). The LED flashes red and green to show the alternating current produced.

The kit can be easily built in less than one hour. With some adult supervision the kit can be built by children as young as 10 years old.

Included in the PicoTurbine Windmill Kit V2

  • 4 pre-wound coils of enamel coated copper wire

  • 4 ceramic grade-5 magnets

  • 1 (5 1/4”) disk

  • 1 bicolor light emitting diode (LED) with 2 leads

  • 1 (1/2”) Phillips head (cross slot) screw

  • 1 eye-hook screw

  • 1 wooden dowel

  • 1 piece of wood about 6” by 6” and ½” thick (for the base)

  • 1 strip of double-sided tape

  • 1 small piece of sandpaper for stripping the copper wire
