The steps for science fair projects in college are the same as in lower grade levels:

  • Choose a topic of interest and ask yourself what it is you REALLY want to know.

  • Develop the hypothesis--what do you already know?

  • Research and test the hypothesis.

  • Analysis and Conclusion--what was it that you learned?

  • Report and Display

    In doing college science fair projects, you'll be excited about the advance materials you'll be working with. The names may sound difficult: Vortex Blimps, or stereoscopic microscopes, but there are all within the same categories--biology, chemistry, physics, etc.

    You'll still use the Internet to find sample projects and experts as mentors. You'll still use science books and/or science kits. The expectations are higher, but you've been doing this for years--it's fun!

    How about college science fair projects in computer science? You've been playing video games and downloading music forever. You could develop a video game or software program. Think of the fun you'll have testing your hypothesis!

    Use the same processes as when you were a middle school student--interest, excitement, motivation, and dedication and your university project will be just as easy as the elementary ones.

    Take your time to choose topics and discover new ideas and you'll find that all the fun you had in earlier science fairs will continue with your college science fair projects. Also explore the outstanding science kits on this page that will help you in making your discoveries.
