A school science project does not require research, unless your teacher has told you to do it. What are the categories of science that you get to choose from for your project?

  • Astronomy - The study of the stars, planets, solar system and universe.
     
  • Biology - The study of all living things. Do you like to learn about plants, animals, the relationship between plants and animals in their environment. Botany - study of plants: what makes them grow, their contribution to our environment, their cell structure?
     
  • Zoology - study of animals: how they hear and see, how they behave in their natural environment or with people, about their body and how it functions?
     
  • Chemistry - study of substances and its transformation. Determines what happens to the substances when they combine together and react.
     
  • Earth Science - The study of the earth. Are you curious about fossils, minerals, rocks, earthquakes, volcanoes, the weather, oceans, marine life or prehistoric creatures?
     
  • Engineering - The function of a machine or mechanism: i.e. how does a windmill
    work?
     
  • Environmental - study of sources and their control; ecology, recycling, reclamation, restoration, composting, acid rain, affects of pollution.
     
  • Microbiology - study of microorganisms: bacteria, virology, protozoology, fungi, yeast.
     
  • Physical Science - The study of matter and energy. Do you like to learn about electricity, energy, gravity, machines, magnets and how materials change and combine?
     
  • Mathematics - The use of numbers and symbols to study amounts and forms. Do you like to compute abstract numbers and symbols to find exact answers? Includes calculus, abstract algebra, number theories, statistics.
