I. Purpose
Do name brand batteries last longer than off-brand batteries? In addition,which batteries are the most cost -effective?

II. Procedure
  1. Put two D-cell batteries with the same brand name inside a flashlight.

  2. Turn the flashlight on and leave it on until the battery stops functioning. Record the running time of the flashlight in a notebook.

  3. continue the experiment for three trials and find the average.

  4. Repeat this experiment with the two additional different battery types.

III. Conclusion
All batteries have an operating time that is approximately the same. Therefore, the most cost effective battery is the least expensive battery.

Going to regionals and state with friends was a blast.

What would you do differently next time?
I would start the research paper earlier.

Endurance: in the Long Run was presented at the Illinois Junior Academy of Science.

The IJAS only requires three sections in their science fair project abstracts, but the The ISEF (grand daddy of all science fairs) requires five sections. So, be sure to check to see what the guidelines are for your particular science fair.
