Lower Grade, Upper Grade, Fun Grade!
Just because kids are in upper grades doesn't mean that science now becomes difficult and no longer fun. Middle school science experiments are a little more detailed but as long as you choose a topic that is interesting, you will continue to have fun conducting the experiments and learning new things. Projects can still be simple even if they're not for elementary school. If it is something that you already enjoy doing, then no matter what the project involves, you will have fun. Here are the science kits that we recommend for middle school
The field of chemistry involves working with different elements of nature and can be exciting if the student often asks questions about how or why elements work the way they do. For example, we know that water is a main portion of most life and liquids. Is there water in ink, milk or vinegar? This is an experiment that the student can easily and quickly perform right in their kitchen with little effort and cost. Some adult supervision may be required when testing the theories of boiling and freezing. Other cool middle school science experiments involve testing how clean or dirty certain areas are. Does the student play video games or listen to an mp3 player? They can rub these items with a swab, wipe the swab onto a slide, cover and let sit in a warm spot for a few days and then check the level of bacteria under a microscope. They can form a hypothesis that they think certain items are cleaner than others and then the experiments will prove or disprove their idea. If they test items outside and inside, they can question which is dirtier. If the middle school student likes working with plants, they can conduct many different experiments. Can a plant grow without carbon dioxide? What are the effects of different amounts of water on a plant? They can test different plant foods or pesticides to see what happens with various levels of use. A kids life is full of activities and thoughts about those activities. Science is about exploring and testing those thoughts. Maybe the student is an outdoors type that likes walks in the woods or studying the stars. They could conduct experiments on how the moon effects the earth's water or how the solar system was formed. They could take soil samples from the different places they walk and test the samples to understand how the different areas effect the soil. The important thing to remember when conducting middle school science experimentsis to still have fun with them, and the only way to have fun is to choose something that is interesting and enjoyable. With those things in mind, science experiments will be fun and rewarding no matter what grade level. And see some awesome science experiments.
