  • Science is involved in virtually every human activity and interest. After all, biology is the science of life; chemistry is the science of matter; physics is the science of how things interact; psychology is the science of the human mind. The chances are 100% that the areas that interest you most will involve some or all of these fields. So the first step in answering the question, "How do I choose a topic for my project?", is to find a field that greatly interests you already.
  • Remember that your teachers and judges will not know or care about how difficult your science fair project was for you to do. Rather, they will look at the quality of the result. If you select a science project in a field you already know a lot about and have passion for, the work will be easier for you, and you will accomplish a product of higher quality. And if you take a lot of interest in your school science project, you are likely to make your presentation highly appealing to others as well. It will come naturally!
  • Once you have selected an area of interest, the next step in answering the question, "How do I choose a topic for my science fair project?", is to find a specific issue to explore within that area. Think about variables: independent and dependent. What are some aspects of your issue that you can measure? These can be your independent variables. What other aspects do you hypothesize that this will affect? These can be your dependent variables.
  • The best way to approach choosing a topic for your project is to generate a few ideas and think about which one of these will be most convenient for you in terms of time spent and compatibility with your skills. The answer will be different for different people, but take a moment to introspect regarding your strengths and weaknesses. Then pick a project idea that matches your strengths.

Answering the question, "How do I choose a topic for my science fair project?" need not be stressful. Just focus on your interests and strengths, and pursue the most fun and convenient idea you have. To get some inspiration, explore these physics science fair project ideas
