This big list of science fair questions can be used for a lot of different purposes. However, it was designed to help students to come up with great ideas for hypothesis questions. Below you will find sample hypothesis questions for astronomy, biology, chemistry, earth science and environmental science fair projects.

The first category on this big list of science fair questions is astronomy project hypotheses. Sample astronomy hypotheses include:

  • Why do stars twinkle?
  • How can you calculate how far away a star is?
  • What makes up a comet's tail?
  • The next category on this big list of science fair questions is biology project hypotheses. Sample questions that you can use to develop a biology project include:

  • What is the difference between an organic and inorganic molecule?
  • What is the difference between plant and animal cells?
  • How do amoebas reproduce?
  • Chemistry is the third category on this list. This category includes hypothesis questions that deal with chemical compounds and reactions. Some sample questions include:

  • Why does pop fizz?
  • How does the molecular structure of an element impact its reactivity?,/li>
  • Can you neutralize heartburn using food choices?
  • The fourth category deals with questions for earth science experiments. These hypothesis questions will look at everything from geological formations to water cycles. Sample questions include:

  • Does elevation impact weather patterns?
  • Can you predict weather using a barometer?
  • How can you date rock strata using other known rock stratas?
  • The final list of hypothesis questions will deal with environmental science topics. These topics look at ecology, conservation and other related topics. Here are some questions you can try to answer with your science fair projects:

  • Does air temperature affect biodiversity of an ecosystem?
  • Can foot traffic reduce the microscopic biodiversity of an ecosystem?
  • Can the ozone layer be repaired?
