Kids of all ages participated in the International Science and Engineering Fair. This year's participants produced some of the most amazing and some of the geekiest science fair projects in the world. (I mean that in a good way.) Their projects produced improvements on existing technologies and devices that industries will sure to pick up on.

The first project on deck was the See Through Camera Jammer. This project was a deterrent for unscrupulous people who use infrared devices to "see through" materials. The See Through Camera Jammer utilized an infrared LED system to overexpose pictures taken by camera phones and other IR devices to prevent them from getting a picture that was too personal.

The next project utilized the typical computer keyboard to create energy. For this project the keyboard was slightly modified so that the magnetic current being generated by keystrokes on the keyboard could be captured and utilized as an energy source. This project showed that there is a non-polluting methodology for generating energy if you just use your imagination.

The third project was a virtual page turner. This project utilized biometrics, namely the electrical current in your forehead and eye blink patterns, to generate electrical cues for your computer to turn ebook pages. This device can be used by people with physical disabilities that can't operate a mouse.

Another of the geekiest science fair projects was the Intelligent Helmet. This helmet is designed to prevent motorcyclists from riding their bikes without wearing a helmet. In order for the engine to start the helmet has to be on the person's head. Once the helmet is on it sends a signal to the engine and it is allowed to start.

If you are looking for one of the geekiest science fair projects around that has real value then the Run Your Car on Ice Project is for you. This project developed a tool that can be installed on a car that helps it to break on slippery surfaces. This is a great project for people living in areas of the country that get freezing weather.

The final project from the ISEF is the Personal Audio Disruption Device. This project is designed to automatically disable outputs from personal audio devices when a car horn or siren is sounded. This is intended to ensure that people are aware of hazards while crossing the street.
