The paranormal is something that most people have at least a small interest in, regardless if they admit to it or not. Kids in particular enjoy the paranormal and have a lot of fun hunting for ghosts. If you are an amateur ghost hunter and want to turn your hobby into an "A" science grade, then consider putting together ghosts science fair projects.

Ghosts science fair projects can look at a lot of different aspects of a paranormal activity. One of the easiest projects to put together is one that collects evidence known as EVPs, or electronic voice phenomenon. Paranormal science experiments that try to capture EVPs require a digital audio recorder and computer software that will enable you to highlight portions of your recorded sound and to minimize background noise.

Another simple science fair project that can be turned into a variety of ghosts science fair projects is an EMF, electro-magnetic field, project. In these projects you will be looking for unusual or isolated electro-magnetic fields that don't seem to have a logical source. Magnetometer High School science fair projects generally result from EMF experimentation and project ideas.

The third project idea that you can work with is a video project. In this project you will be collecting evidence of hauntings using a digital or analog video recorder. Your recorder will need night vision, and you will need a lot of video tape or DVDs to collect your data on. You will also want to spend several nights at the same location to gather adequate data for your project. You may also want to try out several "hot spots" for paranormal activity in your community.

The final project that involves the paranormal that you can work on will look at the connection between limestone and quartz in the ground and paranormal activity. For this project you will be conducting a lot of background research. You will need to collect data on the geological formations in the area that you are studying, and you will also need to conduct historical research about the paranormal activity and stories in your area. You can find historical information at your local public library, through your local newspaper archives and through local historical societies.

While paranormal studies are often considered a pseudo-science, you have the opportunity to change this. However, in order to conduct a thorough and legitimate science fair experiment, you will need to establish a hypothesis, you will need to follow the steps in the scientific method and you will need to logically analyze the data that you collect. Your findings can then be used to make connections between the two variables identified in your hypothesis.
