I am Extracting Apple Juice w/Pectinase. I have followed the Experimental Procedures and I am not getting any juice. I am using a Gala apple and Crosby & Baker, Pectic Enzyme Solution (PES). I have added approx. 3/4 ml of the PES to 1 gallon of distilled water. The directions on the label call for 1/4 tsp per 5 gallons. I have tried this 3 times with no noticable results. Is 2 ml enough enzyme liquid.

Answer: Ron, if we do not sell the kit and then we do not know how to advize you. We suggest you call the manufacturer and ask them.

Answer from Scientist:  The tablets are not necessary.  They are used by professionals to  neutralize the chlorine in some drinking water that could kill  bacteria if the bacteria are left in the bags for lengthy periods of 
time.

 Answer: How about burying some plastic bags in a hole in your backyard for a month and in another hole bury 100% paper bags for the same amount of time? Mark your “graves” and dig up the bags one month later. Which ones decomposed?

You can probably get some friends to do the same thing and see their results. The more people who participate the more your statistics will show if either of these materials re polluting our ground and / or ground water.

 Perhaps your classmates can do the same in a small section of the school garden.

If you have access to a science lab, perhaps at the high school or college in your town,  for a more advanced project you can take samples of the soil that are in each of the graves and see if the material left toxic residue in the soil.

To do this you will need to use sterilized plastic gloves, sterilized petri dishes or test tubes so that the soil does not get contaminated with your germs or in the holding containers.

Answer: Jennifer the best that I could do is to show you how to find the answer.

In Google search window write, what is the definition of liquification? Or just write in the word, liquification. Then a whole bunch of references will be on the search page.

After you get all the information that you need, search for liquification science fair projects.

 When you do these searches you will find another term that comes up, liquefaction. Which term were you looking for?

Answer: Most people ask when their order is going to be delivered. If you live in the United States it takes about 5 working days to arrive at your door.

If you live in Canada, plan on 10 working days.

Remember, it takes about 2 weeks to 3 months to do an excellent science fair project. So don’t wait until the last minute to order a product.

We have been able to get the expected 1.5-2.0 volts from the turbine by checking the output with a digital multimeter.  But it does take a good amount of spinning the rotor to get to that point. 

My son wants to know why we can’t get more voltage from the thing, and it made me question another configuration.  Now, if I get 8 magnets instead of the 4 you sent in the kit, and position them every 45 degrees (and still reverse polarity each magnet) I should be able to double my output voltage, or at least allow my son to have to only turn the rotor half as fast to get 2 volts. 

 This leads to my question:  Do you know the rating of that dual color LED that came with your kit?  By my expectations, I should see 3 to 4 volts on this turbine when I get it to spinning the same speed as before; I just don’t want to smoke the LED in the process. Mike

You would not smoke the led! Many have done this in the past.
