It seems like a very scary realm to try and contemplate, one which draws upon, or invites muti-disiplines and is likely to make me quite confused and unsure quite quickly. But, before I get overwhelmed and break free of thinking at all to some form of relieving mindless distraction which leaves me barely able to think with any muscle at all, back to my contemplations.

Because I had always held onto that we are the only conscious animals, why this was such a comfort to turn a blind eye to inconsiderate behaviour to other animals I’m not sure. But it has greatly helped my conscience while eating meat, having animals as obedient slaves/pets, “farming” animals and all the unkindness that inadvertently involves. All of this is enabled by thinking they are “just animals”, “oh the dogs alright sleeping in the cold” because its “just a dog” and those cows getting herded onto trucks are fine, they aren’t terrorised and distressed like humans have been in the darkest corners of our human history when herded onto similar transport. Keeping them separate avoids another dark corner of our human condition perhaps.

Human nature allows us to and instinctively has us empathise with others, why  haven’t we extended the same depth of empathy to animal life and suffering? A lot has been to do with our perception of their level of consciousness I think?

Well this book started to walk me in from the far horizons of cold distinction between us homo sapiens and “them” or animals. It is about the primate chimps used in medical research over the years to study vaccines and medicines to be used in for example HIV, hepatitis etc. In the past they have also been used as a model for infant/mother bonds and the absolutely integral need for motherly attention, love and physical affection. These chimps suffered as any human would from trauma.

They now live in a chimp sanctuary but are so marred by their post traumatic stress they will never be “happy chimps” again. They were horrendously abused on every level during sometimes decades of medical research cage life. The way they came to “remember” and “predict” different routines associated with physical pain or deprivation was very human and the memory of it all seems to persist to today. They are a bridge between us and them I suppose and perhaps we are all closer than we can afford to think.

I am Extracting Apple Juice w/Pectinase. I have followed the Experimental Procedures and I am not getting any juice. I am using a Gala apple and Crosby & Baker, Pectic Enzyme Solution (PES). I have added approx. 3/4 ml of the PES to 1 gallon of distilled water. The directions on the label call for 1/4 tsp per 5 gallons. I have tried this 3 times with no noticable results. Is 2 ml enough enzyme liquid.

Answer from Scientist:  The tablets are not necessary.  They are used by professionals to  neutralize the chlorine in some drinking water that could kill  bacteria if the bacteria are left in the bags for lengthy periods of 
time.

Answer: How about burying some plastic bags in a hole in your backyard for a month and in another hole bury 100% paper bags for the same amount of time? Mark your “graves” and dig up the bags one month later. Which ones decomposed?

You can probably get some friends to do the same thing and see their results. The more people who participate the more your statistics will show if either of these materials re polluting our ground and / or ground water.

Perhaps your classmates can do the same in a small section of the school garden.

If you have access to a science lab, perhaps at the high school or college in your town,  for a more advanced project you can take samples of the soil that are in each of the graves and see if the material left toxic residue in the soil.

To do this you will need to use sterilized plastic gloves, sterilized petri dishes or test tubes so that the soil does not get contaminated with your germs or in the holding containers.

In Google search window write, what is the definition of liquification? Or just write in the word, liquification. Then a whole bunch of references will be on the search page.

After you get all the information that you need, search for liquification science fair projects.

 When you do these searches you will find another term that comes up, liquefaction. Which term were you looking for?

Answer: Most people ask when their order is going to be delivered. If you live in the United States it takes about 5 to 7  working days to arrive at your door.

If you live in Canada, plan on 10 working days.
