The first step is to Observe and Ask a Question. It is all about making objective observations. These observations are based on specific events that have already happened and can be verified by others as true or false. The observation is really a curiosity question. It is what you wonder about when you see something. For instance, when you see the recycling garbage cans outside houses in your neighborhood you may wonder how much plastic is recycled from a household.

Critique of Video
The video asks the question, “Is natural light better for plants?” When using the word, better, you have to make a comparison. The question that comes to mind is better than what?.
The 1st step of the scientific method is really a question of curiosity. For example: I wonder what kind of light would be best to grow indoor plants?

The 2nd step of the scientific method is doing Project Research. It is not part of the 1st step.
